Ryan Maeglin is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from New York City.  His musical journey began at age 12, when he won a guitar as a prize at a carnival and proceeded to teach himself how to play.  He majored in instrumental music at the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, and graduated Lewis and Clark College with B.A. in Jazz Guitar Performance in 2019.  During his studies, he found a deep passion for live performance and collaborative ensemble work that led him to perform in venues all over Portland and NYC as a member of an eclectic mix of bands such as Ginger and the Snaps, By All Means, E.B. and the Satellites, Tyre Pinlight’s Verde Bouquet, and the experimental jazz trio LDY BTTRFLY.  In addition, Ryan has collaborated extensively with solo artists, including Chrry, Gee Collins, Miranda Fayne, and Skinny Dippers.  After 8 years of playing, teaching, and collaborating with other artists in Portland, OR, Ryan moved back to New York City and has been living there since June 2023, performing around the city and teaching guitar.  He is the lead guitarist of the NYC based rock band Jane Fonda Fan Club, currently in the process of recording their debut album scheduled for release Summer 2024.

Ryan specializes in a variety of genres including rock, funk, jazz, R&B, blues, fusion, bluegrass, and hip hop.  His inspirations include Jerry Garcia, John Scofield, Nai Palm, Trey Anastasio, Isaiah Sharkey, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Derek Trucks.

When not playing guitar or writing music, Ryan can usually be found reading, hiking, cooking, or gardening.  He’s a big nature lover and finds much of his musical inspiration in the natural world.
